In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Harold Perkins Jr. takes over for Will Anderson as the SEC’s biggest defensive threat.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Will Anderson had a down year last season with 10 sacks but was still the most feared defender in the SEC. But some tell me Perkins Jr. surpassed him as a pass-rushing threat by season’s end and it’s clear Perkins Jr. is next in line. The LSU hybrid should have more than 15 sacks next season.

2. Spencer Rattler can be the top QB in the SEC next season.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

There is a lot of optimism at South Carolina based on the weapons Rattler will have and the end of his season last year, but I’m not buying in yet. A monster game against Tennessee had everyone buzzing, but the Vols' defense was horrible, and almost everyone lit them up. He was solid against Clemson and Notre Dame but still had three picks over those two games, so that’s concerning. I have him outside my top 5 returning SEC QBs, and he’ll have to prove me wrong.

3. Benjamin Hall is next in line as a Michigan RB star.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I like what I see from Hall. He’ll be overshadowed by Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum this season, of course, but he’ll also learn from them, and his 96-yard spring game showed flashes of potential stardom. As a 3-star in 2023, he’s overlooked a bit, and I think he found the perfect place for his skillset.
