Cleveland's Triston McKenzie on IL with shoulder fatigue

Cleveland Indians 24-year-old right-handed starter Triston McKenzie notched victories in his last two starts but won't be taking the bump for Friday's home game against the Boston Red Sox as originally planned.

Ahead of Wednesday's home matchup versus the Texas Rangers, Cleveland placed McKenzie on the 10-day injured list as a precaution due to shoulder fatigue. In a corresponding roster move, Cleveland recalled left-hander Logan Allen from Triple-A Columbus.

"He feels good overall," Cleveland president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said of McKenzie, per The Associated Press (h/t ESPN). "He feels really good coming into the ballpark today, but we thought it made sense for a lot of reasons to give him some time."

Back on Aug. 15, McKenzie flirted with a perfect game against the Detroit Tigers and tossed eight scoreless innings. He then held the Los Angeles Angels to a pair of hits and one earned run in a winning effort this past Saturday.

McKenzie improved to 3-5 with a 4.83 ERA this season following the victory over the Angels.

Cleveland began Wednesday nine games back of an American League wild-card berth and at 61-62.
