Chicago Bulls GM Arturas Karnisovas Makes Big Promise for the Team in 2024 Offseason
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bulls have missed the NBA playoffs for the third time in four seasons, and GM Arturas Karnisovas took accountability and vowed to make changes during his exit interview.

“I’ve said numerous times today: This group, something doesn’t work. I have to find ways to find a group that’s going to make improvements. We’ve done it for a couple of years now, and it hasn’t worked,” Arturas Karnisovas said via KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

“I’m thinking about winning. That’s why I’m here. I’m not here to stay in the middle. The formula that came up three years ago, I thought it was working until a couple of injuries. And we’re gonna have to find these answers in this offseason,” he added.

Chicago Bulls fans hope he will make good on his word because their team has been mired in mediocrity lately. Karnisovas and co. will have their work cut out for them this offseason because of their impending free agents and because they don’t have cap space to work with.

Who will the Chicago Bulls keep?

One of the main agendas for the Chicago Bulls this season is DeMar DeRozan’s free agency. Earlier this month, the 34-year-old forward expressed his desire to stay in the Windy City, and it seems that there’s mutual interest from the front office.

“DeMar’s been great for us for three years. He’s been invested in the city of Chicago and has been really great to our young guys. So both sides are interested in continuing, and we’ll see what happens in free agency,” said Karnisovas.

Meanwhile, Arturas Karnisovas is also keen on retaining Billy Donovan as the Chicago Bulls head coach and said that it’s his job to give him the right personnel to succeed.

“He’s obviously a great leader, a great coach,” Karnisovas said about Donovan. “I’ve got to do a better job to help him, to find a group. We put emphasis on cohesion this year, and I think group kind of bonded.”

“Again, in totality, it didn’t work. And I have to find these answers,” he reiterated.
