Arizona Tackle Jordan Morgan Meets With New York Giants

At the sixth overall pick, the New York Giants could turn to the Offensive Line for the third time in the past five seasons. This option is, at present, unlikely but possible. This class is, however, quite deep at the Tackle position, so it remains entirely possible that one of the top players at the position — Morgan included — can slip into the first half of the second round of the NFL Draft.

Jermaine Elumunor and Jon Runyan were brought in during Free Agency to help shore up an offensive line that continued their struggles in 2023, but it still would not hurt to dip into the well that is the NFL Draft to bring in more youth at the position.

In his five-year career at Arizona, with one season lost to an ACL injury in 2022, Jordan Morgan made 37 starts in total for the Wildcats, including during their 10-win 2023 campaign.

What Might It Take For The New York Giants To Draft Jordan Morgan?

This draft features eight potential first-round caliber tackles, from Notre Dame’s Joe Alt, an expected top-five selection, all the way down to Morgan. But not all eight of these players will end up being selected on night one, as it is inevitable that at least one may slip into the second round (Morgan is an effective lock to hear his name be called on night two, but can hear his name be called at the very back of the first round).

The New York Giants traded for Brian Burns very early on in Free Agency, a trade that directly resulted in the loss of one of their two second-round selections in this draft. The Giants would have to engineer another trade from the number 47 overall selection into the first half-dozen picks for a shot at Morgan.

That is unless the team opts to do what some experts expect and take either Oregon’s Bo Nix or Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. with the selection.
